“5 Minute Challenge” to End Procrastination

That’s all it takes.  Just focus on keeping track of your day in 5 minute increments and you’ll be able to answer the question, WHERE DID THE DAY GO?

We often go through our day with good intentions to accomplish certain things and before we know it, the day is over.  Where did the day go?  If this sounds familiar, you will be astonished when you discover how much time you are spending on things that are not aligned with your goals for the day.

You may feel that there is not enough time in the day to accomplish what you believe should be accomplished.  There is no way to add time to our day.  We get 24 hours and that “just is!”  However, using your time more effectively will result in the need for less time to accomplish what you are committed to accomplishing.  One way to use your time more effectively, is to become more aware of how you are using your time.  Greater awareness will allow you to make conscious choices about how you use your time and how you do not want to use your time.

It’s really not that difficult.   Follow the easy instructions below, and watch you life change.

Instructions for Selective Focus 5 Minute Planner:

  1. Download for free, the Selective Focus 5 Minute Planner.
  2. Each evening print one out for the next day.
  3. The 5 Minute Planner starts at Midnight and provides space for entries, in 5 minute increments.
  4. Indicate where you will be during the blocks of time
    • NOTE, most activities will take more than 5 minutes.  Instead of indicating the activity on each line during the block of time, draw vertical arrows for Activities that take more than 5 minutes.
  5. Indicate the Planned Activities.
  6. Most activities will take more than 5 minutes.  Instead of indicating the activity on each line during the block of time, draw vertical arrows for Activities that take more than 5 minutes.
  7. With the exception of sleep time, Check off each planned activity, every five minutes or if you did not follow your plan, write in the Actual Activity you did during that 5 minute period.
  8. Notes, may be added in the right margin, such as, goals for the day, what you learned, etc.
