Stop Negotiating With Your Mind and Body!

Most of us can remember times when we knew that taking a certain action was best for us, and yet, we felt like we could not get ourselves to take action.  Sound familiar? Once we realize that we know what is best for us and remember that our mind and body will discourage us from taking right action, we can take charge and easily change habits that do not serve our best interest.  Try this simple trick and see how your life and lifestyle shifts drastically, for the better.

The Simple Trick.

JUST STOP! That is, stop negotiating with your mind and body, when you mind and body tells you that it “doesn’t feel like” taking the action, that you know is the right action to take.

For example, let’s say, we set a goal to get out of bed at a certain time and start day with a yoga class or a workout at the gym.  Our alarm goes off early enough for us to make that happen, but our body and mind tell us that they “don’t feel like getting up now.”  At this point, we have a choice.

Here are some choices:

(a) We can negotiate with our mind and body, again, by thinking something like, “well I really should go, but, o.k. maybe your right, I probably need more sleep, since you’re telling me you don’t feel like it; so I can stay in bed this time and I will exercise later or tomorrow.”  You can probably guess what happens later and the next day.  That’s right, the same thing; and each time it happens we get more and more discouraged and down on ourselves, which is exhausting, makes us even more tired and even less likely for us to follow through with action, no matter how good that action would be for us!

OR

(b) This time, we can decide that, today, this is not negotiable; no matter what our mind or body says, we can exercise our right to be the master of our mind and body, instead of letting our mind and body be our master.  We can say to our mind and body, in a loving, but stern manner, “wait a minute, who is in charge here? I am and I demand that you (mind and body) follow my command. Now get up and execute the exercise plan, now!”

Have fun with this exercise and watch how you start to master your mind, body and even time.  With that master, watch as your life and lifestyle shifts, to a more grounded and fulfilling life, with more certainty, personal power and more energy to achieve all that you desire.

You may even want to  add a valuable moment of gratitude for your body and mind, even before you make demands on your body and mind.  The more you master your body and mind, the more grateful you will be for your body and mind; and, the more grateful you are, the more cooperation you will receive from your body and mind and the easier it will be to take charge and take right action on a consistent basis.
