  • It’s Not Too Late to Live.

WHEN WE DISCOVER THAT OUR LIFE CONSISTS OF SPRINTING FROM ONE OBSTACLE TO THE NEXT OBSTACLE, IT’S TIME TO STOP SPRINTING AND START LIVING.

We are often too busy sprinting to spare a moment, but lets just imagine for one moment, that we can stop to consider, whether we are dying for, what we believe to be the ultimate life.  As we sprint through (or past) life, achieving goals, we are driven by the thought, that our particular vision of the ultimate life is  going to show-up, right after we overcome this obstacle, then the next obstacle, and the next . . .

SPOILER.

When consistently sprinting from one obstacle to the next, without much in between, SPRINTING becomes our LIFESTYLE and OBSTACLES become our LIFE.  How did that happen?

SPRINTING AND WILLPOWER.

Sprinting requires an enormous amount of willpower.  Willpower is a resource that can become depleted. When willpower starts to become depleted, stress increases and eventually can lead to the state of “burnout.”

Sprinting while in the state of burnout, further depletes us of willpower at a rapid rate.  If the sprinting does not stop, we realize our willpower is running low and we start to experience fear.  Fear in this context, is often based upon doubt about whether we can overcome the next obstacle or achieve our goals, as our energy reserves are running low. That’s when burnout can mutate into symptoms of anxiety.

The next step often involves symptoms of depression, when we arrive in a state of hopelessness.  This hopeless feeling usually based on the assumption that our goals can only be achieved through sprinting, together with the realization that sprinting is not sustainable long-term.
